Mk5 V's Mk6 ???

Postby boristhebuilder » Fri May 25, 2012 8:47 pm

Hi all...

So I'm looking to buy a transit for work and play. Found a few nice Mk6 examples, 2001/2002, LEZ Compliant, 2.0ltr diesel, Med-Roof, Suitable to convert into a 6 seater... Then I find a 2001 Mk5 for half the price! still LEZ compliant (2ltr lpg/petrol), still suitable to convert into a 6 seater.

I've had a look through some of the other posts... People with a mk6 say buy a mk6, those with a mk5 say, predictably to buy a mk5... :?

I'm guessing that the petrol/LPG - diesel they will hopefully do a similar MPG. (?) ... I would say that the mk5 was slower, but as I'm looking to modify the van anyway, this doesn't really factor so much...

Somy question is:

Which one do YOU think is best? :?:

Ive got a Mk6 but i love Mk5's and given the chance i would buy a decent Mk5 if one came up and i could afford it. That said, the Mk6 does drive nice, light steering and clutch. Mk5's have a certain charm about them, mainly rust
