Be careful with leasing, if you lose your work you will be stuck with a van you don't need, and can't afford to pay for, but have to till the end of the lease contract period

Yes I agree, and have thought a lot about it,but you can spend your life worrying about the future or just get on with it.

Hiya Steve, I'm looking into the same kind of thing at the moment.

Looking for a mwb semi high trend or limited.

Spoken to vanarama and got a bit cheaper price from "all vehicle contracts" too.

For me coming out at 230 per month for limited and 220 per month for trend.

Thats mwb semi high 125ps both of em. Over 60 months.

True BJT.

My mk5 is a sweet old bus, never lets me down and isn't too bad on the juice if you drive very steady.

But dare I say it, it's starting to look a bit embarrassing in company when everyone is in new stuff, I rock up and look like one of the Dingles

It's not just like contract hire, where your money is totally dead. You build up equity in the vehicle as you pay it off.

Bit more on it here-

Have you thought about a bank loan instead, you may get a better interest rate and more discount off a van if you came offering full payment.
Also you would be free to sell it if things go tits up.

Good point Beegly. But they do rate leasing as a very efficient way for a sole trader such as myself. All the payments are 100% offset against your tax bill.

And as it's never yours during the lease, you don't get taxed like you would if you owned it.
