Advice on buying a transit please

I am hoping to buy my first transit in February. I will have around £2000 to spend and it will be my only vehicle ( replacing a large car), I will also be hoping it will get me to France every summer.Ideally I want seating for 5/6, and a window by the back seats. It will be for everything really, the school run, work ( picking up and transporting material) and a basic camper. Any ideas gratefully received. Someone mentioned that there may be some years/models to avoid. Is this right? and if so, which are they? Many thanks in advance.
