mk7, 10 or 11, any concerns? hoping to buy.

Postby hogemeister » Wed Apr 10, 2013 10:15 pm

Hello all,
After much deliberations i'm seeking a mk7 10 or 11 plate 280.
Hopefully i can find one with honest mileage of lower than 50k. And i'll be making one trip to find the right van via vantrader or ebay.
So are there any mechanical issues i should look out for on a newish van?
Thanks in advance.
Tim.

Not really, but I would (personally) avoid the small output (85PS) engine :)

Should drive like new with no rattles and squeaks :!:
Some engines may sound a bit rattly when cold  If really rattly, go and find another
When warm, should drive along whisper quiet :!: :D

Thank you.
I think it may be an 85 as it's all i've really seen in the classifieds, as i Was planning a remap also.

What wrong with the 85ps. I have that one and had now problems with it. All I will say is get re-mapped and it will be just as powerful as the 130ps at the fraction of the cost. mine is pushing around 140 to 150ps so get it to vantuner if you live to far away get it done by Celtic tuning they will come out to you. But it would be better to get to Martyn at vantuner he is good.

Nothing :!:

I have a vantunered one, and am very pleased with it. Smooth, quiet, and enough power to drag around the 2.5 tonne van (and load) it's fitted in :P
I always smile when they say on here that it's underpowered :D
