Buying a high mileage transit

Postby Transitrich » Thu Feb 20, 2014 12:01 pm

Hi all. I'm just looking for a heads up.

I am looking to buy a Transit for around £1500 (Small budget I know but its only temporary)

I test drove a lwb 2.0 TDCI (125) 55 plate the other day. The advert described it as being the quicker 125 version. When I tested it, it seemed REALLY sluggish. Is this normal or should it "Pull like a train"? I will be carrying weight at times so need a decent amount of pulling power.

With my budget, I am probably looking at a van with around 200,000 on the clock so understandably the van I get wont perform like a Sprinter but should they still feel like they have a bit of power behind them?

Are the 2.4 litre versions much more powerful than the 2.0 TDCI versions?

Thanks, Richard.

Better with a tddi as a mk6 tdci is not good
It is bad
100ps FWD perfect 8)
A 75bhp FWD is about as fast as a 90 rwd as it has longer stroke or something

Do not buy a high mileage MK6 TDCi unless it has bullet proof service history, and drives absolutely perfect. They are the most problematic mk6. The 100ps is a far better bet
Ford Transit Custom 280S Trend 105ps
Does this train stop on Merseyside?
