What to check when buying a ford transit T350 LWB 2002

Postby whitenoise73 » Sun Jul 13, 2014 12:27 am

Hello can anyone provide me with what to be checking as I am going to view a ford transit Lwb T350 2002 with 97000 miles on the clock.
I've already done an hpi check and no concerns was raised but I have no mechanical knowledge and I was hoping you experts could suggest where and what to look for.

Regards
Roy

:) awesome answer, have bought it now rust not that bad considering but seller did mention that mot advisory was for an oil leak and apparently it's been fixed but not shown any receipts for the work done, but I'll drive it for a while see if there is any oil spills left once parked also I might monitor the oil level.
Thanks for your help

Very helpful, thanks I know when he spoke about the oil leak that was repaired he opened up the bonnet and pointed in the direction of the right hand side if that means anything to you experts, I have been driving it around and parked up for over an hour and NO leak patches.

Fingers crossed he might have told the truth

Could have been the vacuum pump gasket but if it's not leaking then great :D

We were wondering if a service should be done as it feels slightly sluggish but maybe that's cos we are used to driving new cars
