First Transit...Is this a good buy??

Postby ziggmike93 » Sat Jun 20, 2015 4:25 pm

Hey Guys,

looking at buying my first ever transit after having a vauxhall van for the last couple of years and nothing but problems :( the dash was like a Christmas tree on most occasions so I have decided what I should have done from the start and thats buy a ford!

so back to the van in questions its a 61 plate back transit - 115 T260S LTD FWD SWB

has the extras like heated front screen, aircon , alloys etc.
it benefits from a towbar that's been fitted too.

its only done 41k and priced at £10.6k what do we think of the price?

Is there anything to look out for on the van? any known issues or common faults I should check apart from the basics?

From the above what does everything think? is this a good deal? Im due to go see the van again on Tuesday and Ive seen it just now but its not been prepped and needs a good clean beforehand.

thanks in advance. Mikey

Did you just regestet twice?

Or is it just a coincidence the two people called mike are looking at the same van?

Would be looking at the usual things.
Service history.
Make sure engine is cold when u go to look at it some dealers will start them before u get there and then lock it back up.
Make sure it starts and runs smooth with no smoke or hunting.
Check for fuel filter changes. ford recommend 4 yrs or 40k but most (including me after seeing state of filter at 3yrs) change filters early. If its old style filter that u can see check its a genuine ford filter.
Is a 260 heavy enough for what u need. They only carry around 800kgs.

Thanks for the reply

Cold start is a must and Ill make sure the dealer doesnt have it warm before viewing.
Ill inquire around the fuel filter as either way should have been replaced as nearly 4 years old/ just done over 40k.
Yep the van will be heavy enough for me, thanks for heads up though on weight.
