Looking at a mk6 tomorrow

Postby Catmankev » Sat Jan 16, 2016 8:46 pm

Good evening all.

Tomorrow afternoon I'm going to look at a 52 reg lbw m/r rwd 350 90. (I actually know what all that means at last too :) )

Bodywork looks good in the photos my friend sent me (his confirmed it looks like good un just a bit of surface rust one sill but still treatable)

175k injectors, pump ect replaced last year, also he says he has receipts for a around 3k of maintenance cost from the past 2 years.

Serviced every 6 months.

This was his work van and couldn't afford to be without it so he kept it well.

Owned for 10 years, bought with 22k on it.

His only selling it now as his changed jobs so wants a car.

Previous mot history search looks genuine.

All sounds good so far.....

This is the bit that's giving me a bit of concern.

Mot till end of Jan,
He can't be arsed to try and sell it privately so was going through webuyanyvan who offered him £800 for it. I happened to speak to a mutual friend at the right time and was told I can have it at that price.

So...

Any advice from you lot on what to check with a fine tooth comb?

Thankfully you were wrong. All looked good and didn't miss a beat on the 65 mile drive home :)

I was about to write that I'll be under it with some underseal soon but that's a lie. I'm going to pay someone with the right equipment and knowledge to do it for me.

Lwb seems to not rot as fast as swb but it depends the life it's had  underneath is easily to do if you do what I done, I removed the fuel tank, exhaust, heat shields and rear suspension :P
