Mk7 scrapper selling for £5,000?

Postby screechowl » Thu Jan 21, 2016 3:14 am

How is it that there can be ads for a Mk7 for sale for £5,000 and another Mk7 around same age/model being sold for spares or repair?? And both look mint!!!

I see this lots of times & it really puts me off buying one cos how are you supposed to tell if it's not just a scrapper they're trying to sell top price? :? You cant trust anyone these days

There's probably not much difference except the scrapper probably needs a few bits and bobs, maybe clutch, egr, Axle, MOT, Tyres, Ball Joints Etc.
Would Take Much To Get It Upto 5K At Fords

It's not scrap, it's "for spares or repair". This is a legal dodge which means the buyer acknowledges the vehicle has faults, and is being sold as needing remedial work or (in worst case scenario) scrapping. If you buy such a vehicle, you have little comeuppance against the seller. If not sold "for spares or repair" a vehicle should be in fully working condition.

Scrap value of that, with the price of steel the way it is? Few hundred quid maybe by weight, more if it went to a dismantlers for disassembly, but unlikely to be more that £1000. It is not being sold as scrap ...
