advice re possible Transit purchase

Postby chris1206 » Mon Sep 19, 2016 3:53 pm

I am considering buying a ford transit. Its a crew cab £2250, Swb,07,2198cc,179000 miles,11 months mot, 6 seats.

Checking the last 5 yr or so MOT's nothing major has been picked up. (I am checking what service history it has). However, the last MOT showed an advisory of

'Vehicle structure has slight corrosion (6.1.A.1)'

I am new to Ford Transits and was wondering if anyone can give a view on how concerned I should be with that advisory?

I would be more surprised if you had found a 9 year old Transit with no corrosion on it, but you need to know where it is, and how much there is, and deal with it before it gets any worse. If it's only minor, then you may just need to apply waxoil to slow it down
1994 Mk4 SWB 115 Minibus 70ps Di (R.I.P.)
1997 Mk5 SWB 115 Minibus 70ps Di (Gone, but not forgotten!)
2004 Mk6 SWB T280 Medium Roof 85PS 2.0 TDDi - Vantunered (Also gone)
2008 Mk7 SWB T280 Medium Roof 85PS 2.2 TDCi - Also Vantunered
