I'm sure the GEC one is 1967, although GEC never had Transits

Cheers Mr. Malta Transit. Love the photos you have posted :D I quess there are loads of really early vans in Malta?? I fancy a holiday and drive one back to UK... Is that possible?? :?
Meanwhile my rusty '66 is sat there waiting for work to begin  Sometimes I look at it and think 'Nah.. it's finished' :( but then I look harder and its all repairable in fact. :D For years I have been gathering the panels to fix it, like a rear valance of the earliest type with just one locking bar hole (left door just has a little cupboard type latch).
At least you can see all the rust, its never been welded or fillered. & the roof  thats the worst bit, dented down by Agricultural machinery stored on it :( Need a whole new one really :? Planking in the back has protected the floor well. I am a decent welder so its all possible, just will I ever find the time :(

Hi Tranorack, sure you can buy one and take it back home, but don't forget these are working vans not pampered ones, they v got to earn there living. Every Mk1 Transit was imported second hand, after about 5 years service in the UK,and i have a big feeling that early ones ended hear. Most of them had diesel convertions and even cosmetic changes, like side lights to big all orange indicaters. Only the log book can say the year of manufacture. My friend Karmnu who you can see his tread called Karmn's Transits or Yard , has this red one below which once was of an earlyer petrol type, even the indicators have been changed.

In the backround of your photo there s a bit of a fjorid blue transit, presumably yours, can we see a good look of it as i m dieing of curiosity to see that one. Or lead me to a tread which its shown that i v missed.

So it is Mark.........

Been a few years since I saw it.

Makes no odds though..........

GEC Elliott Traffic Automation didn't exist until 1971..

The livery was changed to Yellow/Black livery in 1973

GEC had a deal going with a Bedford dealership called

Haines and Strange in those days.......

When it was time to get a new van,you drove to the

GEC site in Wembley and, collected your new Bedford CF.

The Bedfords I had were......

WAD 462J.....CDF 870K These were Blue/Black with a White Roof.

The 'L' and 'M' reg vans were Yellow/Black
