Bigmac said, [ THIS IS ONE VAN THAT WASENT MENT TO BE USED AS A DAY TO DAY VAN IT WAS A SHOW VAN ONLY[/quote]
after reading the copy of the e-mail sent to Peter Lee it sounds like a lot of the Stringer vans were not meant for daily use and were no more than quickly slapped together jobs purely for the camera, think that van neads a "proper coat of looking at" before any major restoration was embarked on :(

I have looked over 3001, the 3rd axel is just for show and will need work to make it road going but its not too difficult to sort it out, the middle axel needs some bracing but again it shouldnt be that hard (easy as fitting a jag axel)

there will be two panels needed the windscreen scuttle and rear valence(LWB)
none of the other panels look too bad, but i'll reserve judgement until ive got it and stripped off all the filler and underseal :)

i have been in contact with the man that designed 3001 Steve Stringer, he has sent me these original concept drawings, i like the way it was meant to be and am thinking of changing it to be closer to the original designs although getting permission for the artwork might be a problem.

Wow! Steve Stringer got back to you! It looks like that concept has the original LWB roofline.

Postby BigMac » Wed May 31, 2006 12:11 am

yes your right mrmuk it should stay as it was 3001 in gloss black with silver 3001 down the side . the van would not look any good in any other way .
