Electronic components engine change

Postby Robshortman » Fri Apr 29, 2016 10:50 pm

Need urgent advice please
Just bought a doner mk6 transit to replace my engine complete.
Mine is a t280 2001 2.0 duratorq fwd, the doner is a mk 6 duratorq t260 2.0 fwd.
My t280 is a better spec as in elec Windows etc,
My question is along with the t260 engine what else needs to come across for conversion ie Ecu etc and what other electronic components? my injectors have no wires going to them so I assume they don't need swapping?
Also I'd like to fit the newer clocks if possible but not sure if my original loom will allow me too?
Also do you have any ideas what exact parts form the key code function, boxes? Just ring around ignition barrel?
Thanks

All FWD are 2 Litre Duratorq's, unless they're petrol engines
75ps and 85ps use the same type injection pump, but have different turbo's and the 85ps has an intercooler.
If you use your old pump on the new engine, you won't need to mess around with the ECU or key chips. If you want it to be 85ps, you'll need to use the donor pump, ECU, and key chips for it to run, you'll probably also need to fit the 85ps turbo and intercooler.
You can't really use the later digital clocks, unless you fancy changing all of the dash wiring as well :)

Thanks, I would have used my old pump if it wasn't knackered lol, but I do have the complete van of the doner engine so inter cooler etc not a problem, so if I put in new engine, Ecu and just that little black ring around ignition barrel will I be good to go?

Yes, pump and ECU will be matched/coded. You don't need to change the key reader around the barrel, it's just a reader, but you will need the chips from the donor van keys inserted into your keys :)

Just to Finnish this post off
New engine went in fine, the only electrical problems I encountered were to swap the old engines Ecu for the new engines one ( do it while engine is out so you don't forget), swap key transponders over if you intend to keep your original locks, also as new engine has an inter cooler I found the electrical connection for it tucked up with the other wiring.
Thanks to those who replied earlier
If your completing this type of conversion don't let it phase you.
