Mk7 gearbox issue

Postby Robertsfron07 » Fri Mar 24, 2017 11:50 am

Hi all,
I don't know if I have posted this correctly, apologies before hand,
In the last few days ,I have been having a dry bearing kind of noise while in 4&5 gear,I have checked front bearings by jacking front and turning wheel by hand, they seem fine, but I did notice while turning driveshafts, there is a loose cogs noise from gearbox end,
Is the mk7 2.2 tdci 5 speed same gearbox as the mk6 2.0,
Any suggestions much appreciated

Noise could've been a dual mass flywheel problem but not at that horsepower as it'll be a single mass flywheel, when you say it's noisey in 4th and 5th is it just because you've got speed up at that point and its getting louder the faster you go?? Does the noise change on left or right bends??

Thanks for reply,
I only go 65mph max,no difference in sound around bends,
Sounds like a land rover

Have you checked for oil in gearbox? If in neutral, clutch pressed and still hearing the noise the it sounds more like a wheelbearing
