starting problem mk 6

Hi, can anyone help, a couple of weeks ago my 52 plate jumbo 125 T350 just clicked when I tried to start it, I thought starter motor, tried again and hey presto she started, drove as normal and no more trouble until yesterday.

same thing, tried to start and just click. phoned a mechanic and he said starter motor, bought a new starter and fitted it and ....nothing just click.

put jump leads on old starter and it spun.....phone mechanic back he's on holiday but tried to advise on phone and he went though lots of stuff including attaching a wire from the small wire on the solenoid (he called it the trigger wire) to the battery and still just click.
Tried using a jump lead from the earth strap on the starter to the body of the van and still no good.

Tried putting the van in gear and pushed it a little and all the pulleys in the engine bay move so don't think the engine is seized.

please help

Ignition switch are quite common and a fairly cheap fix at between £9 and £16 depending on where you buy from

Thanks mate, i'll pick one up and try it, are they just plug and play? or do they need programing or something

Not the key and barrel, just the switch bolted on the back of the barrel. Plug & Play

Hi mate, all sorted now, after 2 mechanics looking at it and not sorting it, a friend (who knows very little about cars/vans) looked under and found a wire which had broken off, I repaired the wire and it's all good now.
