OBD failure

Postby Marting » Wed Jan 17, 2018 8:56 pm

Hi folks newbie here go easy on my lol

Ok here goes
Got an '05 reg swb 1.8 TDDi 75
Wee van was going great till it developed a lack of power problem while driving the power just drops off then it won't rev up it just idles or cuts out
If I turn it off and wait like a minute then start it all seems ok for say 5mins then it losses power again!!!
Took it to my mate who has an obd scanner plugged it in and it doesn't work or it won't communicate with the van
The scanner lights up but won't continue on into the system
There's no eml light on the dash when the van breaks down
I've checked all the fuses for power for the obd and all seem ok
Anyone any tips on the obd problem so I can scan the ecu and get the fault codes should there be any stored

Thank for your time

The scanner does work as plugged it into a corsa to test its operation

+1 on the fuel filter, my neighbours van was cutting out randomly, the fuel filter looked like it had never been changed in 13 years, new filter fitted no more cutting out. N

Should be... but isn't OBD compliant. Generic readers don't work on mk6s

Mk6 are not OBD-II compliant....and if it's an 05, would it not be 2.0L instead of 1.8..??

Just like Transit mk6's. Transit Connect 2000-2006 are NOT OBDII compliant
A generic scanner will not communicate with vehicle.

You require a suitable device that's supports SCP (Standard Corporate Protocol).
