Engine out

Postby Mad Husky » Sun Feb 25, 2018 12:25 pm

How easy to do an engine out on my own when i say engine out engine and gearbox together as been under again today found oil dripping from the gearbox to engine mating area it's clear so not engine oil gearbox oil, also when under spotted wet patches from a hose connection under the manifold and various leaks all over. Not what i need right now. I thought it might be easier to remove both do all jobs at once.

Give it a good jet washing underneath and run it to be definite where leaks are coming from before removing everything

+1 on the clutch slave,

If you do decide to pull the engine take pictures of where each connector goes, there's nothing worse then refitting and wondering what went where. N

I find the easiest way to remove and repair the engine/gearbox is....to get some other poor b*stard to do it..

Yes that is one slave cylinder kaput broken in half but there is a leak above the starter motor on a plastic to hose connection looked at it under the bonnet seems to go to power steering but looks a pig to get to. Also engine appears to have a leak somewhere else and a leak at the other end of the box as well I got the van bodger and badger fixed. Found a vid on youtube same noises my gearbox makes so it has gone too. Not having a good time with this van at the mo. I can't afford to get a garage to do it I am self employed and skint so think I am one of the seven dwarfs keep singing I owe I owe it's off too work I go.

Written in the service book are solid flywheel fitted me thinks they damaged something when they refitted the box gonna chuck a new slave cylinder on and hope it lasts till it gets a bit warmer. Getting too old for outdoor minus temps fixing.

I'd advise you fit driven plate and pressure plate as well as the slave cylinder and fit LUK
Slave usually bursts when clutch is knackered
