AC TICKING NOISE AND A SMALL FAN RUNNING ALL THE TIME

Hi There

I have a 2003 duratorq transit when i start it i get a tick ,tick noise coming from what i think is the same area as the AC pump? i might be wrong here but it sounds as if it is coming from the right hand side of the engine at the bottom looking from the front that is ?. I also have two fans one as normal to cool the engine and the other is smaller but for some reason i have noticed this comes on a lot and i notice it more when i stop to get fuel it will continue to run ??? are these two connected with the AC and if so any ideas why this fan comes on and runs and what this tick is ,,,,

is the air distribution set to windscreen

if you are using the air con it will click in ad out and the fan will allso keep cuting in even in winter and as guy says when demisting

Hi , I also have a 53 plate 2 litre duratorg. Mine does excactly the same! The pulley under the engine clicks in an out
with the air con on or off. I had the aircon regassed it seemed to work but on the first hot day it blew warm air.
I would be very grateful of any help last time I took a car in for AC repair got charged £600.
