How to re-program your remote entry transmitters...

Postby Sachmo » Thu Jan 05, 2012 11:07 pm

Hi all,
This is correct way to re-program your transmitters/3 button key fobs...

You must have all remote entry transmitters (maximum of four)
available before beginning this procedure.
If all remote entry transmitters are not present during the programming procedure, the transmitters that
are not present during programming will no longer operate the vehicle.

Note: Ensure the brake pedal is not depressed during this sequence.
To reprogram the remote entry transmitters:
1. Ensure the vehicle is unlocked.
2. Put the key in the ignition in the 0 (off) position.
3. Cycle four times rapidly (within
six seconds) between the 0 (off)
and II (on) position.
Note: The fourth turn must end in
the II (on) position.
4. Turn the key to the 0 (off)
position within 10 seconds.
5. A chime will sound to confirm
that the programming mode has been activated.
6. Within 10 seconds press any button on the remote entry transmitter.
Note: If more than 10 seconds have passed you will need to start the
procedure over again.
7. A chime will sound to confirm that this remote entry transmitter has
been programmed.
8. Repeat Step 6 to program each additional remote entry transmitter.
9. The programming mode will exit automatically after 10 seconds of
inactivity, or by turning the ignition to position II.

Illuminated entry
The interior lamps illuminate when the remote entry system is used to
unlock the door(s).
The illuminated entry system will turn off the interior lights if:
• the ignition switch is turned to the on position, or
• the remote transmitter lock control is pressed, or
• after 25 seconds of illumination.
The dome lamp control (if equipped) must not be set to the off position
for the illuminated entry system to operate.
The inside lights will not turn off if:
• they have been turned on with the dome lamp control, or
• any door is open.

Cheers all,
Am going try this tomorrow. Previous attempt failed, which was turn IGN x 8 times from Pos 0 to Pos 2, leav on pos 2 at turn 8, press any button on key fob...
8)

Did the locks lock then unlock before you pressed the fob

Nope. Nothing happened. So either I did it wrong, or a fuse has blown from 1 of the 2 fuse thingy's. Or My remote 3 button fob is dead, even though Fleabay seller it had been tested and was working prior to sending it.

Am going to check tomorrow...see what this black box thing is on Passenger side footwell, and note down the Parts Number, post on here for Andy to check and see whether my van has CDL or no CDL.

If you only have a lock on the drivers door then you have CL then if it works using the key in the lock then it should do the cycle. I usually do the on off thing pretty fast.

Hi,
Right this morning I have managed to program my new remote (3 button) key fob to the central locking of the van. The new blank key has been cut, Ive taken the glass chip from old key and now this has been put into the new cut key. So remote key fob is working A okay.

So now I have a remote key fob (3 button) which works as it should operating (Locking & unlocking) all x 4 doors, and with the immobiliser glass chip in it. [/b]

So yeagh all good now. Great to have a remote with master key. No messing around unlocking and locking van with the key anymore. So much easier with a remote. :-)

A big thank you to you all, for the help and information provided. Cheers.

The instructions you have posted are for Ford cars, not Ford Transits. On Transits you must key on and off 8 times, there will be no chiming noises

Just to update this thread, I've just programmed a new remote for my 2002 T280 having lost my old one, and the only procedure that worked was:

With Van unlocked;

Cycle ignition key rapidly from 'off' to 'on' leaving in 'ON' position on 8th time

Wait for locks to cycle

Press button on remote

Wait for locks to cycle

Turn ignition off

Job done! Van unlocks with remote again :-)

No only for the remote locking, you need two working keys to program a third to the inmmobiliser
