2009 MK7 - Speed Restriction Disabling

Postby theapprentice » Thu May 16, 2013 10:53 am

Hi,

I've had a quick search but I was wondering if someone could help me with this -

I've just had an autoelectrician out to remove the 70mph restriction from my van. He was confident he would be able to do it and also had 2 pieces of hardware/software to do it with.

However, on both software packages he would go to the setting to remove it, and when he pressed enter to disable it using this method (http://www.autodiagnos.com/sites/defaul ... imiter.pdf) then it would simply come back up with 'This van is set to do 120km/h' still. This happened on 2 different pieces of equipment.

Also, the reason for taking it off is due to motorway overtaking - which in my view is more unsafe when the vehicle just stops at 69!
It's my own vehicle, just an ex-fleet.

Any help or explanation on why it might do this would be very helpful.

Might this van be an Econetic model? Neither of the 2 IDS speed limiter removal routes work on them ( so I doubt an after-market tool will as I assume it will have just "copied" over IDS functions )
