ldv 2.0 dohc swop for transit dohc

Postby halla » Sat May 18, 2013 6:52 am

Hi guys, (mk5 SWB W reg 2.0i DOHC 8v LPG semi high)

Basically, I love my van, 190,000 miles on the clock,(got at 40,000) top speed has dropped to 90-100mph. Making me think I am not getting the most efficient
fuel economy. I can live with the van as is, but we all want the best for are children! and parts may become harder to source as time goes on!

I have been looking into replacement engines/bits.

I could change the head for a recon, costing around £300 for the bits. and feel I could do the work myself.

Their are LDV LPG 2.0 dohc engines on the market for between £200 - £400 around 50,000 miles on the clock. never changed an engine before!

Can I purchase a ldv 2.0 dohc 8v engine and make a straight swop for my ford 2.0 dohc 8v?
Is my gear box compatable with the LDV lump?
any body done this?

I have been researching and found next to nothing. Any help welcome.

Postby halla » Tue May 21, 2013 4:03 am

Hi, (SWB 120 2.0i DOHC LPG W-reg transit)
Anyone replaced their transit 2.0i dohc with one from a ldv 2.0i dohc.
Are they a straight swop?
will my transit gearbox fit the ldv 2.0i dohc lump etc

Any advice welcome
Ian

If the engine in the LDV is the same Ford engine as yours, then it will have the same Ford gearbox as yours :D
