Service light won't reset 59 plate mk7

Postby Philtheplumber » Sun Nov 24, 2013 10:16 pm

I've gone through numerous times trying to reset service light. Don't think I did two minute wait on first reset and have been told I may need new PCM. Any ideas please, can it be reprogrammed

So brake and throttle ignition pos 2 wait for service light to flash, it goes off then key off and feet of the pedals, then when you turn the key on it comes back? Mine seemed to take ages to go of but worked.

Make sure all the doors and bonnet are shut when you do the "pedalling".

Have done all of the above, mechanic has looked at it. Sucked very hard in threw his teeth and gave it the "think it's going to cost ya". He reckons I've damaged PCM, a known issue apparently on fords. He wasn't sure if it could be reprogrammed but recommended renewing. :?
Hoping someone on here might know !

You could update the PCM or even re-flash the software on it.
Sometimes a play about on IDS followed by the reset will sort it.

No luck I'm afraid. Have lived with it on , as Ford reckon it'll cost approx 800 notes to replace PCM.
Mechanic reckons his had to do a few :(

Having lived with the issue for nearly a year the light has gone off by itself. It still lights up with the ignition so I know it's not the bulb. It's simply turned itself off. I do approximately 30000 miles a year so couldn't even pin point a mile it reset itself on. STRANGE !

The brake pedal has to be pushed down all the way to the floor which can be quite difficult. It's got to stay there for the duration of the reset activity.

No it doesn't, only far enough that the brake lights are on, it's the throttle that has to go all the way down

The reset was done probably about 50 times and kept coming back on. I did it, a mechanic did it and a FORD mechanic did it. It has reset itself eventually so happy days. Maybe I should sell it whilst it's off :D
