Transit 2.4 tdci won't start

Just a question though despite the problem should the van start on easy start? Cause it doesn't

You'd expect it to, certainly read loads of ppl running out of diesel and it running on estart then cutting out etc

Had a mobile electrician out and he said it's the ecu everything else is fine

Does any one know of any one in the west or South Yorkshire area that repairs them?

look for ecu doctor he will check it fot £30 snd repair if needed,dont think it wiil be ecu.
did you recheck timing have injectors tested properley.

The timing is fine , does the ecu control the amount of fuel the pump shoots out, cause at the min when I turn it over there is hardly any diesel coming out? Into the rail it's just spitting?

Also the fuel filter that I had on it wasn't a ford one it was a cheaper one and I've read on here you should only use a genuine ford one could this be the cause of the low fuel compression?

there should be big pressure at injectors .if there isbt you need to have pump checked.and while your there injectors..if theres no pressuure ecu wont let it fire hence wont work with easy start

Could it be that there's no pressure cause the ecu is faulty the guy that came out and did a diagnostic check said it was a faulty ecu would this prevent there being big pressure at the injectors? I'm confused now as to whether it is the ecu or the pump now

Can anyone tell me what the readings should be if I do a compression test on my van?

you will need a proper diesel compression tester as they are very high ,it will be obvious if theres something wrong as you will 1,2 down on the others,,if you have been told ecu is faulty did you have ecu tested (could be ecu but doubt it) did you have injectors tested properley.have you even done a leak off test on them ,at the moment your just guessing,what codes have you now got

Tested it today with a proper diesel compression tester and got readings of about 160 psi on all cylinders have so there is not enough compression to start it up so what would this indicate there is compression there but not enough??
