Rear axle

Postby SuolaMk1 » Thu Apr 10, 2014 9:51 am

Any suggestions how to fix or where to buy from? Is it just dust cover or something?

Axle is from 190 1986 Transit..

I don't think that theres anything behind it that desperately needs protecting from what I remember when I stripped mine (to have it all blasted and repainted) i'll have another look when I next get up the shed but looking at a picture that I have it doesn't look like there's anything that sits hard up to it at the hub end as there are no shiny marks or clean bits on the end of the sleeve.....

you could probably get away without having them fitted :?:

other than that then you need to find a Mk3 twin wheel axle with them still in good nick

Yes that is the rear hub seal but it seals against and spins on the last "step" of the axle casing (hope that makes sense)

having looked again at the pictures and exploded drawing I think the job of this sleeve is to prevent any grease that passes the seal from contaminating the brake linings :!:
