tipper trouble, wont start!

Postby mxa16 » Mon Apr 14, 2014 8:07 pm

hi all ,
thought i would join a forum and get some sensible advice !
bought a 2000 year tipper a couple of weeks ago and done about 200 miles without a problem then i was down the dump yesterday and i turned it off and the it refused to start upon leaving and had to tow it home.
i think with my luck its going to be the fuel injection pump as it does not suck any fuel from a pot of diesel (large pipe from fuel filter housing to pump) however what did occur to me it may be an immobilizer problem but it locks and unlocks as it should and the red light when unlocked stays red then goes off so i think this is ok?
now waiting for a scanner to hopefully show something up but i wont hold my breath as the dash lights are all ok.
anybody any ideas ? thanks in advance

Locking and immobiliser are not connected and are independant of each other.
Get fault codes read before spending any money

hi,
finally got codes read ;
b2141 pcm to pats module.
so this ties in with it being turned off then not starting, however do these become unsychronised like this ? and what is to stop it happening again after it is married/coded and if this fault code is accurate (which i hope it is ) why does the red light over clock behave as it should ?
thanks in advance

got the codes read again and same code came up so got the ecu coded to fuel injection pump and still no joy(now no fault codes present) next day i put a fuel can straight in pump inlet(1/2 bore pipe to go over push fit connector)t and after an age it started to suck the fuel in, cracked the injectors off and off it went after a bit more turning, had to do this 4 times as it kept stopping until i stopped it myself then put it back as it should be bled it up with injectors cracked off etc and let it tickover for an hour turned it off and went to start it and would not go !
so not wishing to put starter motor through more bleeding i put another fuel filter housing on the next dayas i was running out of ideas and has been fine ever since!!
my lessons are :
pigs to bleed !
do not believe the codes as this sent me on a wild goose chase when all it was a fault fuel filter housing sucking air (worth getting one and fitting it to eliminate as its cheaper than getting the codes read !!
