Pump Timing

Hi All, looking for a bit of advice. I have just checked the pump timing on my DI engine running a Bosch 083 fuel pump. The engine ran noisy (rattled) and did not seem to have much power but before I put it all back together I wondered if it was worth advancing the pump a little to get more power out of it. Is it clock wise or counter clockwise and by how much?

Unless it's a turbo it probably won't make much odds.
