MK3 190 REAR BRAKES LOCKING UP

Postby eds tranny » Sat Sep 20, 2014 5:21 am

I have a 1990 transit 190 Campervan twin wheeler, the rear brakes keep locking up.
its had a new master cylinder, new vacuum pump, all the brakes have been overhauled with new pads on the front
and new shoes on the back.
Its in a garage at the moment trying to sort the problem out.
every time I try it on the road, I only go about 1 mile brakes lockup and brake pedal goes solid.
have to leave it about 2hours before I can move it again.

Have the flexi hoses been changed?
They can deteriorate internally and act like a check valve

Hose as AKE says, or an issue with the auto adjusters on the brake shoes. Has this got a Bias valve on the rear axle, if so has it been changed.

Hi, I have just got my transit back from garage, where I took it with rear brakes locking up.
There was nothing wrong with the hoses, or the load valve.
Mechanic said it a rubber in the Brake servo that was perished.
I have been running round in the campervan today, and the brakes are fine.
