Mk6 speedo/rev counter

Postby steviebee » Tue Oct 14, 2014 7:50 am

Started van up this morning to come home from work and everything was fine (mk6 85 ps). Got a couple of miles up the road and I lost speedo/revcounter and milage indicator for about 10 secs. Then speedo came back on followed by revcounter then trip meter. everything else was fine lights heater etc, and van did not mis a beat. any ideas as to what it could be? I have been getting an intermitent alternator belt squeak for the last couple of weeks when it has been wet/cold ( new alternator fitted last month, but had to refit old belt due to damaging new one when I tried to put it on.

Instruments playing up again. Is it possible to disconect the wiring loom at back of speedo from under the dash. I want to give it a spray with contact cleaner. I have had a look and can see them and get to them easy, just wondered what sort of clip it was that held connector in place.

It only takes a few minutes to remove the pod from above, you don't need to remove the steering wheel, and then it's easy to get at the plugs on the back :D
