2000 2.5di swb rwd loss of power

Postby badboy666 » Tue Oct 14, 2014 9:34 pm

My 2000 2.5di swb rwd transit is very sluggish when taking off in first gear, accelerator pedal is pushed right to the floor just to get it going, it looses a lot of power when trying to go up hills as well most of the time having to put is right down into 2nd or 3rd gear just to make it to the top, also when taking my foot off the accelerator the power is pulling right back and nearly came to a stand still on a few occasions, when the van turns over there is also grey and white smoke coming from it. Any help as to what could possibly be causing these problems would be gratefully appreciated as i have no clue when it comes to diesel engines as always had petrol's.

It's not hard, just nuts & bolts really, the hardest part can be taking off the timing cover. Many people have done it at the side of the road with limited tools ......................
