does a mk5 TD have a fuel cutoff switch?

Postby rdvil » Mon Nov 10, 2014 6:38 pm

As per title. Van went tail first into a ditch, so to a dead stop from a significant speed, ran for a while, was turned off, started again, and died. Hasn't started since.
Now if this was a gasoline Ford, there would be a switch to press behind the drivers kick panel, but since it's a diesel...
Well, any ideas where to check?
Wasn't leaking fuel from anywhere and the fuel tank seemed to be undamaged, but that's all I know from telephone.

I never thought of the exhaust either, very good point.
Timing belt was my worst fear...hope it's not that, don't relish the idea of sourcing pushrods or whatever it might have damaged...but at least it was still running, so maybe it's not a big mechanically-wise. the symptoms pointed towards lack of fuel, but a blocked exhaust would fit the bill as well. Or something that would convince the Epic to not allow it to run, if there is such a thing...
Well, it was a big shock so anything's possible. Again the problem arises that despite being a common van, nobody around here seems to know f**k all about them...
So I am in your debt, gentlemen, for being the best source of information :D

Probably the fuel lines in the tank after all, even though there was no external damage, the shock must have shook something loose - no fuel throuh the transfer pump. Thanks for the help and good ideas!
