Anal question on Engine oil temperature

Postby KevofCov » Fri Nov 14, 2014 9:24 pm

Hi

bit anal I know but I want to glue a magnet to the sump plug. The magnet is scrap if it gets above 80 degrees c (news to me) - what temp does engine oil normally run at?

cheers Kev

Dunno but it was common on older motors to have a magnet in the sump plug so they must survive ok.

Normal coolant temperature is around 90 deg C, so the oil temp is going to be at least that, and higher
