My initial reaction was"WTF, how can it possibly be Ford's problem if you have a rodent problem?"

Both Honda and Toyota are facing Class Action lawsuits in the US due to the same issue. It seams that they are using a new eco-friendly plastic insulation on their wiring - as are most of the main manufacturers. Instead of oil-based plastic, it's made from soy beans, and is apparently irresistable to rodents, from rats and mice to squirrels. The damage is not just limited to wiring, other parts made from the same plastic are being eaten as well.

It probably explains why Endlebury says his Transit is being attacked while other vehicles parked in the same are are untouched.

I now think there's something to this, and you might have a genuine case against Ford.

Google "rats eating car wiring" or something similar on the Google "News" tab. There's literally dozens of news stories on this from all over the world, and the new plastic is being blamed as the cause every time!

It's gotta be worth punting a few hundred quid and dragging Ford or a Ford dealer into the small claims court?

Is that the dude that was whinging over a little extra running in mileage ? Mercilessly taking porridge out of the mouths of the poor dealers kids with nay a thought of the cost of the diesel to put a few thousand on the clock?
Recently the whinging has been about slave labour battery suppliers and motor brushes on the cheap to deny any profit to the dogarse trade. Additionally the whinging about scrap dealers behind their backs on this forum has to be seen as an attack on this reputable trade .
I intend doing a nice casserole with a garyboy van wiring loom when i next visit the flatlands.

If anyone bought a brand new vehicle and the engine blew after a few months, they would complain. If the fault is covered on the warranty, it would have to be repaired or replaced for free.

Because this is a wiring issue and wiring is not covered under warranty, the manufacturer/dealer can just deny all resposibility. If the insulation on the wiring smells and tastes like a rat equivalent of a crack-laced Sunday roast, then it's going to cause problems. That's NOT the buyers fault. If the maufacturers are able to claim it's not their responsibility either as a result of their warranties, then it SHOULD be their problem.

I know rats are clever little sods, and love vandalising stuff just for the hell of it, but IF there is a genuine problem with this soy-based plastic, then the manufacturers should admit it and do the right thing.

History suggests they won't though!

I got a puncture the other day.

And after much research on google it would appear that inflated rubber is susceptible to being pierced by sharp objects!!

Clearly a case of "not fit for purpose"?
Why? O why? Would ford use such a susbstandard product? :?

where there's no blame

there's a claim

vans should come from the manufacturer rodent, famine, death ,war conquest and puncture resistant
it shouldn't be the owners responsibility to take f*** care of his vehicle.
