Wiring location for door switches on MK7 Transit 260

Postby paulrichardson » Thu Dec 18, 2014 2:32 pm

Hi Guys,

I'm wiring up an alarm to my MK7 Transit 260.

I've got some data from Cobra as to where to connect to on the van but can't find the front and rear door switches.

According to cobra I need the yellow/grey wire on a 57 way connector located on the right of the fuse box.

And then the black/yellow wire for the rear and sliding door.

My problem is I can't find the 57 way connector.

I've got the whole of the passenger side glove compartment to pieces and I've found the other connectors it mentions, (C1 - C4) but can't find this one.

Any help would be appreciated.

Regards,

Paul

Don't think that's going to work, mk7 don't have a pin switch

there is a pin switch on the side loading door and all the others are built in to the actual door lock

57 way connector is the big ass white connector nearest the bcm, it Its where you add extra stereo wires for 4 speakers to the radio.

Your alarm probably wants the door ajar switches to sense an intrusion.
These are closed when triggered (earthed to bcm)

Hi There,

I am having a senior moment with this wiring.

Can I check that I have the correct connector, is it this one behind the passenger glove compartment:-

Image

If it is, which way do the pin numbers go, as I've tried the colours mentioned and they don't seem to correspond.

Paul

C connectors are at the bcm, drop the front fusebox down and you'll see each connector.

If you post a pic of your instructions relating to this we can see if they should be joined at the 57 or bcm:-)

Hi there,

Here is a link to the instruction sheet I am working from:-

http://www.craftee.co.uk/Transit_2007_Alarm_Wiring.pdf

It's on the first page.

OK c1 to c4 ate the bcm connectors, the cobra system wants to intercept the door switches at the 57 way connector tho which is the 1 you showed in your picture, i showed you where they went to the bcm after the 57 way.
It also shows option for aftermarket/cobra remote or transit remote setup by the looks of it.

These are the wires I'm trying to connect to, but without success, I have multiple white wires and multiple greens, but cannot find a Green/Violet at all/

How do you know which way the pin numbers go. I can't see any markings on either end of the connector.

Remove the c connector you want and look into the hole where the connector was, look closely with a lamp and you'll see numbers dotted around, not everyone is numbered but you can work it out eg.

1................10
11..............20
21..............30
31..............40

Follow the pins to the 1 you want then on the connector there is 2 More connectors inside it with 2 rows of pins in each, you lift a tab on the side and then slide out the connector which will be numbered eg.
1..............10
11............20
Find the pin that corresponds with the number you want then look at that pin from the back and check the wire colour, be careful of the orientation and double or triple check it is the correct pin.
The above layout is for c3 c4 c6.

The other connectors will be numbered differently and some go from top to bottom columns, just be logical and see which way you can join the numbers.
Eg.
1...19
....
....
....
....
6...
Etc. :-)

Hi Loot34,

Thanks so much for all your information.

I'll try and see if I can find the numbers, with my magnifying glass.

Can I just ask if the wire colours you suggested are to the left of the connector (nearer the side of the van) or to the right of the connector (nearer the fuse box), or doesn't it make a difference.

One other thing I noticed when I was testing was that with the connector "not connected", the interior lights still went on and off ( I didn't think it would work without the wires connected).

Regards,

Paul

According to the diagram the wire colours are the same from the bcm through the connector to the switch all the way, some colours look very similar tho and i tend to go on the pin numbers so eg ajar switch c1-3 and bcm c3-29 i know they are linked for that function.

I have only spliced wires at the acm(front fusebox) all other items I've fitted, including Ford alarm (not cobra) plugged into empty terminals.
If the installation wants you to go to a connector at the bcm number then join the wires at the connection it goes to, check the wire colour matches, you may need to wipe the dust off, violet and gray can look very much the same as blue and white :?

Sounds complicated but isn't tbh, cobra is based on adding to the system rather than integrating (according to those instructions, and even tho there is a disclaimer, they will be correct).
I hope I'm not making it sound complicated lol.

If you aren't sure then let me know and I'll take a picture of each wire connection for you if i can a bit later.
