02 330 swb gas bi-fuel wont start

Postby karlhull » Wed Feb 18, 2015 11:46 pm

hi all,
I joined just to get help with this one. I recently bought a 2002 330 swb gas bi-fuel transit as a non runner with little information on the problem. The ad just said electrical fault so i took a gamble. ( and lost ).
So heres what I know its definitely not key / immobiliser. had locksmith out and the key and fob work fine.
Next stop the garage. He came back with it runs fine on petrol and gas but cant be started off the key he must have bi passed ignition somehow.
When you turn the key you get oil battery fuel and seat belt light then on full turn of the key handbrake light comes on and seatbelt and fuel go off but doesn't fire no sounds at all.
Really stuck with this one all help is appreciated and all questions welcome.

My first thought is that you have a faulty ignition switch, NOT the barrel, but the electrical part on the back of the barrel :)

Thanks al but wouldn't this stop all dash lights working altogether? And is it a case of a new barrel or just that particular part?

Or a faulty starter/ solenoid, did they just bump start it at the garage?

Quite possible for all the dash lights to work but not the starter if the ignition switch is faulty, the part that will be faulty is just the switch bit you turn with the end of the lock - you can replace it on its own.

Just fit a start button to the dash and wire it to the starter.
