vcm sellers feedback

Postby loot » Mon Mar 09, 2015 10:17 pm

Hi I've posted here for the most views over all the forum sections if that Is ok?

Basically I'm asked quite often who to get the vcm from.
We have various sellers from the web and eBay.
This question is for anyone who has 1 or knows someone who has 1, and hopefully won't cause anyone any problems.

The question is, based on usage, seller comms, postage times, and longevity of vcm functionality.

I know of 3 cases of vcm2 devices that have started to play up our stop communicating altogether.
2 of mine and 1 of another members.

Hopefully just a bad batch and this thread won't get updated except to say good things about good sellers.

My 2 faulty ones are from www.obd2tool.co.uk
1 lasted a year and the other lasted 2 months.
No responce at all from them so no warranty and i don't intend on buying from them again :-(

If you can recommend a good seller/supplier of vcm1/2 then let us know pls.

The point of this post is just so other members who wish to buy a vcm can get fair guidance from us.
(It's not a bitter post at all as i got 1 free)
But i can't actually recommend any sellers, except to say make sure they take PayPal and maybe give them a question prior to buying from them, this will gauge whether you are likely to get a response if you need a warranty repair.

I bought mine last year from here: http://www.aliexpress.com/item/2014-Hig ... 59590.html

Can't comment on the long-term durability but so far so good. And it's seen a fair bit of use since this is my first Transit :o

I've understood that the seller (Shenzhen Kingbolen) is a relatively large exporter of diag tools so maybe (just maybe) they are interested in keeping up a good reputation. But who knows where these actually come from...you might get good stuff from one seller today but crap tomorrow.

BTW, have you taken the faulty units apart? Maybe try the old oven trick and bake the board since there's nothing to lose anyway

I thought about that but the boards are double sided and I'll bet my timing will be out and I'd find stuff on the floor

Also bought mine from obd2tool.co.uk I decided to go "full fat"
http://www.obd2tool.co.uk/wholesale/vcm ... lcouk.html
So far it's been okay. It's got (what looks like) a genuine Bosch sticker on the back.
Requested the extended programing patch via email from them but as they took so long to respond I'd got it from a kind gentleman on this forum
They seamed to answer direct questions on the website under "product's reviews" quicker than tech support email.

Was delivered quick, 4 days I think and no import tax, delivery straight to door.
(Paperwork in box stated value of unit $27)

Will update here if it fails any time soon. So far so good, hopping it lasts.

Just took the plunge :? http://www.obdtool.co.uk/wholesale/best ... -tool.html

I asked if there had been any problems with failures of the vcm units? But only got a "it's covered by a years guarantee".

I shall update as soon as it arrives in 3-5 working days :D

Got mine from www.obdtool.co.uk in Jan 2014 and it was still working last week.

Using ids V86 but the supplied dvd gave problems so had assistance from fellow board members to sort some of the software.

Notice a trend there ? not too big and not too small

Well the catch on the box is bust already and the v81 disk was f***!
But I had an old v81, so no major drama!

Vcm is working and has communicated with the van :D

Yep, extended and it all seems hunky dory! :D

Apart from a corrupt v81 disk, no probs :D
