HELP!! I have 8 bend Pushrods and 1 broken Rocker....

Mine is the transit turbo 2.5 diesel with bosch manual pump mod.

It drove fine for years then today struck up sounded a bit rattley, I stopped it checked oil water etc...all ok.

Drove 5 mile seemed to settle, but then I went to start it after a few minutes and it spinning over quickly, I took timing belt cover off and belt is intact but only bottom turning.

Took rocker cover off, one broken rocker and eight bent pushrods.

What has happened to my engine???

Timing belt has stripped the teeth around the bottom pulley

Hi I have just been out to check and yes absolutely it has stripped the teeth away.

I have checked and all three pulleys move freely and i have removed the belt.

So am i right in saying i can just pin up the timing, put in new pushrods and a new rocker arm, adjust the tappets as per the manual and put a new timing belt on.

Then she should be good to go?

While the push rods are removed, all the valves will be closed, turn the crankshaft to TDC, using the flywheel timing pin to confirm TDC has been found.
Now, turn the crankshaft BACK, (anti-clockwise), 90 degrees, using the front pulley as a reference, this will place all the pistons at the 'halfway' point in the bores. While the pistons are 'halfway', fit the replacement push rods, rocker shaft and take the opportunity to adjust the valve clearances, much easier just to turn the camshaft than the whole engine.
Once you are happy with the valve clearances, turn the crankshaft clockwise to TDC and fit the new timing belt.

Just one thing, when it says valves 1-8 is that starting at the front of the engine (nearest slam panel), or back of engine (nearest firewall/cab)

I got it all done and running thanks guys.

Now to find where the oil is dripping from, going to investigate the sump and Turbo pipe first.

But at least it moves now. Happy days..

Hi there, I am trying to help a mate search for some replacement push rods for His Transit County 2.5 TD Its either MK3 or Mk4 I am not sure but its NOT banana engine and i am pretty sure its not smiley front.
Ebay is no help and its proving hard to find old model transits in the Bristol scrap yards.
Does anyone know where he could find some or where to look for Mk3 and Mk4 vans for breaking ?
Any leads would be much appreciated
