Ford transit 2003 slight knocking noise

Hello there I have a 2003 90 rwd transit with a slight knocking noice I have just taken the sump off and oil pump and the oil pump doesn't sound right are they ment to spin freely and make any noice ? Also can the shell's be done from the sump any help would be appreciated thanks Daniel

Hold on look at the crank pulley rubber and get a pry bar and wiggle pulley as it could be pulley making knocking noise

I have the oil pump off and the gears have marks on them like deep scar marks any ideas the pully seams fine mate

I have just striped the pump and by the looks of things it's 100% that and it's all at the bottom of the sump lets just hope it's stayed there and not got up the top

Any ideas I think thay was once some sort of roller bearing not sure how they got in the oil pump any ideas cheers Daniel

THEIR should be 2 cogs in the pump i wonder were the other one went

the 2 cogs make the oil pressure up i would be looking a bit more up the engine for the remains of it

also its engine job out to do any bearing work on them

Hello mate the other gear is the other half Yer I was thinking it would have to come out unless there old as I know it had a new head before I got it one of them things I guess I won't know till its out cheers tho mate

to be honest their isnt a roller bearing within the crank case
sump
or even mains and big ends so its a mistery were they have come from

the only place i can think of is the vacum pump which has has roller bearing init and feed oil
