ASM clutch fluid pump runs continuosly while door is open

Postby suziquee » Wed May 06, 2015 3:15 am

Hello all. My Transit ASM jumbo van has been giving me trouble re some times when selecting D or R it releases the clutch suddenly and stalls instantly, then I restart and select D or R and it will or wont run correctly. I have purchased a new clutch kit with solid flywheel for 399 bucks here in Australia and will get it fitted soon hoping that solves the problem. The other problem is that the clutch fluid pump runs without stopping while the drivers door is open. Does anybody Know why this is happening. Cheers

The HPU pump normally runs when the drivers door is open.
It may be that the pump has had it and is making more noise than usual, giving you problems

I would imagine that if the ign. isn't switched on within a preset time, the control relay would be de energised

What is this

Postby suziquee » Sat May 09, 2015 1:27 am

Can anybody tell me what the component is underneath the radiator water tank on a 2005 VJ Transit ASM it is sitting on the bodywork, it is about 2 inches square and is grey plastic. I thought that it may have been the ASM clutch fluid pump but I may be wrong. This component has a motor/pump as it runs when I open the drivers door and won't stop till I close the door or insert the ignition key and turn two stages. Hope you can help, Cheers.

Here is a picture of the device which I thought was a pump but it seems to be a electrical control/ regulator etc. This morning when I opened the door the device was silent for a few minutes then cut in, clicking about 4 times per second continuously. For the past few days when I opened the drivers door the device would run fast like a pump continuously. The van has not been used for a month. Hope the picture helps. Cheers.
