Mk7 hesitates on low revs

Hi I have just fitted a new engine into my 2008 2.4 115 ps tipper. Engine idles perfect apart from injectors sound slightly louder then old engine. But when driving at low revs it hesitates quite a bit , but if you put your foot down its fine , seems to be worse from cold . And only other issue is the is it has diesel knock under load any info would be great thanks in advance
