EML Light @3000rpm and loss of power

Postby rhino3210 » Thu Jul 09, 2015 12:22 am

Hi.

I'm new to this forum so go easy on me!
I have a Transit 56 plate 100ps LWB 2.4 and it has being causing me concern. At idle it is very lumpy, and when I accelerate it makes a kind of tappet noise at about 2000rpm.
Today the Engine Failure Light came on at 3000rpm and the power dropped dramatically. It still ran but after pulling over and switching the engine on an off it cleared.
Took it back up to 3000rpm again and the same happened?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated? I have a basic code reader and no codes are coming up?
I have read that it could possibly the fuel filter and I will replace this over the weekend.
Is there anyone else who has suffered the same problem? And if so how did you get round this to cure it?
Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Maybe worth while cleaning your EGR valve.

That almost certainly needs the pressure relief valve replaced, and the suction control valve on the pump, and then recalibrated using diagnostic kit such as Ford ids.
Cleaning the egr is a good idea, but won't fix the problem

Don't leave it, or it will die.

Ive just bought atransit t350 115 bh. On an o4 .and i just noticed its not reving over 3000 rmp on tickover. But it only does it intermittently. It seems to be ok while its being driven. I noticed it by accident really. Sitting reving it as i had just put new idler pulley n crank pully etc on it . But its got me pissed of wondering if ive bought a bag o bones lol. Like you its my workhorse. And i need it. RUNNING PERFECT.
