Low clutch biting point.

Postby jizm » Tue Jul 21, 2015 7:53 pm

Ok I've just had to replace the gearbox in my van due to the selector bolt shearing and punching its way out of the bottom. Second hand box put in with new LUK clutch and aftermarket cylinders. The bite point was really low making it hard to get into gear. Fitted genuine master cylinder today and re-bled the system. It's a little better but the bite point is still very low and sometimes hard to change gear.
Any ideas on this one?

Definitely no air. Been pressure bled about 10 times now. We also clamped the hose and hydraulic pressure was spot on. Are aftermarket slaves poor too?

Genuine one ordered, thinking of changing the clutch again too......
Maybe it's defective.

Ok.
Genuine master fitted.
Genuine slave fitted.
Biting point still the same.
Any ideas?
Do different fwd vans have different throw slave cylinders?

Ok I just spoke to the guy I got the gearbox off and it looks like it's had a solid flywheel conversion. The clutch I bought is for my standard solid flywheel. Could this be the issue?

So all the mk6 fwd boxes are the same?
