Knocking from front when turning on uneven ground

Can anyone help. Recently bought an 11 plate transit a few weeks ago. When on uneven ground such as turning in to a dirt track off main road. There's a loud knocking coming from front. Ford just said "oh its common" maybe buy it's not right and I've got 6mths warranty on van and want it sorting as I've never heard of "knocking comes as standard" ??? Anyone else with same problem

sounds like either Bottom Ball joints or anti roll bar droplinks (and/or) bushes excessive play in any of these is a potential MOT failure so they should fix it (may not be covered by warranty as such as they are subject to wear and tear) but the "sale of goods act" states that anything you buy should be "Fit for use/purpose" so they "should" be liable to fix it but it's not always easy to convince "used vehicle sellers" of their obligations

Get an independent inspection (ie someone that knows) in order to confirm then tackle the seller with your findings

And it's a front wheel drive,
It needs a power steering cooler fitting to the return line from steering rack to fluid reservoir.

When I'm turning on uneven ground it got a load knocking. Garage looked and suggested changing both drop links (which they have) but problem is still there. It's not the smoothest on the roads when over potholes ect.
Any help on what it could be would be appreciated as it's still under warranty

Both drop links changed and problem still persist.

If you lose the top inch of a coilspring (going over an Asda speedhump, for me...) you'll get the same knocking/crunching noise depending how it sits at the time. Would explain your dodgy handling over bumps, too.

Jack it up so the wheel's off the ground - if you can easily move your spring about, you've lost a chunk.

Steering trackrods (drum sticks) knock at the steering rack end when they wear. maybe them.

All my MK7's did it from new, on full lock, on uneven ground. Never got any worse, didn't worry about it.

Hi Pete,
I agree with you, let us all know when it's fixed!
Please could Frag help with some more info on cooler?
My van has this symptom, it's fwd 350 lwb, had it new and rattle started around 8k.
Main dealer not interested as nothing actually broke but shame it spoils a good van.
