dash lights

Hi, new to this site and need a bit of help.just bought an 06 transit 2.0l. Ijust noticed that the dash lights only stay on for a few seconds with ignition turned on.van is starting and driving ok.gauges working ok as well.thanks in advance for any advice

When you turn the ignition on all the dash lamps come on for a few seconds as a bulb check. Most should go out leaving battery and oil on until you start the engine when they should go out as well.
The handbook advises not starting the engine until the bulb check is finished.
