faded ford badge

Postby Alinoz » Wed Nov 18, 2015 8:33 am

The badge on the bonnet of my 2004 mark 6 has faded so much, it's just a silver blob.
Is it the Aussie sunlight or a design fault? The other badges are in good nick.
Anyway, I thought I'd put a sticker over it, like a tiger as rego number is TGR and I'm a Tiger (Richmond) Aussie Rules fan.
Any other suggestions?

M8 , have a look on Ebay and search " Rare Black Ford Badge Oval (145mm) Metal/Chrome " . Doesn't seem bad value ( $26.50 with the discount voucher )
Added bonus , he's based in Brissie . Also avail. in red or white ......... no blue ..... just a thought

There's a trick I learnt from the Mk1 Fiesta site. You remove the badge, gently scrape the chrome off the back of the badge (try not to sratch the plastic) around the Ford logo, NOT the word Ford though, then spray paint it blue or a colour of your choice, I've seen red, yellow and even green. Allow to dry and refit to the vehicle.

Wasn't there a recall on them at one point?

ok, after all that I bought a badge on ebay and all I have to do is to remove the old one, and the fishing line trick ( i've read similar posts) sounds good. I'll let you know once I get a bit of fishing line!
