Warning: Rear Passenger Door Opening

Postby foolsgold » Sun Jan 31, 2016 10:33 pm

Hi,
I've got a 2014 Transit Custom which I've had converted. Now I'm get 'Rear Passenger Door Open' warnings all of the time even though both sliding doors are firmly closed. I've had a look at the doors and I've noticed that one of the small devices appears to be missing and there is just a spring hanging out. I've taken a picture of it. Could anyone tell me if this is what is causing the problem and how much they are to replace?

Thanks a lot for your help.

Cheers

Sorry, picture is the wrong way round. Need to tilt your head to the left to see it in the correct orientation

I was going to say the pin switch but it looks like the roller has disconnected
If that is the case then surely the door isn't secure?
If someone converted it for you then I'd ask them to fix it.
If not then make sure it is the roller and see if you can get a replacement, you may get Ford to replace it under warranty but they might say user damage and no.

I'm not sure if custom has the pin switch like the mk7 but it'll be easy to check just look for a plunger around the frame.

At this point tho i think that the roller disconnected is letting the door sit away from the plunger.

Any more pictures? :-)

Thanks for your reply. Yeah, I don't think that I'll have much luck with the converter. They don't look like rollers but then I could be wrong. The both appear to be broken but both doors are definitely secure and in the catches.

They look like they could be like small plunges that when depressed tell the van that the doors are closed but as they are both broken I don't know what they should look like at the end. I've fired up some more pics.

Any ideas of what they are called/cost and if that is what's causing the alert would be great.

Thanks again

They're better pics and yes plastic, I'll say they are the pin switches, there would have been a plastic bit on the end.
If you can look behind them you'll see the electrical connector.

Ford only i think, can't see any on uk eBay :-(

Side door ajar pin switch.

Will be keeping the door open lamp on.

Could do with confirmation from another custom owner tho

Excellent mate, that's what I thought. I've no idea how much they cost and whether it's just a case of swapping them over at the electrical connection. My rear inside lights have been removed and replaced with separately controlled led lights.

Does anyone know where I would get replacements?

Thanks again mate, really appreciate your replies.

Quick update. Managed to get two new pin switches from Ford. £28 for the pair and easy enough to replace (5 minute DIY job). All sorted new. Thanks for your help mate.

Cheers
