mk5 brake fade spongebob pedal

Postby familybanger » Tue Apr 12, 2016 9:20 pm

Hi ya lads and lasses,
Not been on here in an age and typically coming back in with a want haha. My petrol bus has been suffering a fading pedal, has brakes but not a lot sometimes more than others and a pump will sometimes though often not add more anchors. Servo or master cylinder is my guess, snagged a unit on ebay though was for derv van as not many petrol ones about it seems. Any ideas for a fix appreciated. Granada servo? Have issues around buying new so would rather avoid if at all possible.
Thanks in advance
Will

Check the flexi pipes on the front aren't ballooning up when you put your foot on the pedal.

Good shout, will find a spare foot or suitable length of stick :D Should add there's no signs of leakage, fluids a bit mucky and sure I changed it erm some years ago. Plenty of pads/discs and shoes/cylinders changed early last year.

Hoses looked old so changed them whilst I was there. Pedal got strong, I got excited then it all went back to poop. Bit of faff to as can't find easy bleed and on my jones with broken thumb but necessity is the mother of invention haha
Will put up a wanted post to see if any one has a servo/master cylinder lying about.
New flexis make my van look very dirty
