97 diesel Transit not switching off with the key

Postby unclebrendo » Thu Apr 14, 2016 10:56 pm

Morning.

I've got a 97 diesel transit and for a while I noticed that it took a second to die after turning the key off. Then 2 seconds, then 5. Now it continues to run with the key off and out. Sometimes it does eventually but I got an engine warning light after starting up again so I stall it now before turning the key of and I've never had the problem since.

Any hints?

Cheers

Turbo engine :?:

Electronic Switch Off Solenoid (ESOS) in pump is faulty :) Lots of stuff on here about it, including a "how to" on changing it, if you try a search around 8)

Or the stop has become tired and just needs changing.

That would refer to mechanical non turbo pump, not Electronic Epic turbo pump

As already said, the seals on the Esos stop solenoid need replaced

Based on his symptoms and the fact he has an engine light it must be electronic epic

Yep but it's going to have to come out to check for debris anyway.

Epics don't get issues with debris... the seal on tge end of the plunger will have failed letting diesel pass through.

If its a manual stall it as you turn it off until you get round to changing the plunger

Cheers guys. It's the epic pump. I'll tidy the esos up and report back.

Some fuel gas been leaking out the side of the pump which I think might be related but we'll see.

Cheers

Does anyone know where I can get a kit for this in Australia? In a bit of a hurry if possible.
