Limp mode - Transit Tourneo 2.0 TDCI

Postby M31R10N » Fri Apr 22, 2016 5:16 pm

Have a 2003 Transit Tourneo 2.0 2003 which keeps going into limp mode when the revs/speed increase. The temperature gauge sits in the middle and then goes all the way to the top every time it happens. The engine doesn't seem to be overheating and there is no steam or obvious problem with the radiator.

Got a diagnostic from a mechanic who gave the error code P2288 and referred us to a diesel specialist.
The next mechanic was a fuel injection specialist who said there is nothing wrong with that and suspects that the cylinder head temperature sensor needs replacing.
We have since replaced the sensor and still having the same issue.

Any help would be appreciated,
Cheers

I think it's more likely it needs a water pump

Thermostat won't cause cold heater.

Yes that's true.
But I stand by my original statement, the water pump is knackered, or at least the splines which drive it from the power steering pump are

Totally agree with it being a faulty water pump. N

FWD faily straight forward, its easier to remove the air intake to gain access then its just bolted on you have to unbolt it from power steering pump, cost depends on if you want new, second hand, genuine ford or pattern part have a look on transitpartscentre.co.uk. N
