Air Con Pump 2007 2.2 Transit

Postby daipower » Sun Nov 03, 2013 11:46 am

My pump doesnt turn. Switch seems to work ok, and extra fan switches on the rad when switch is pressed.
Does that mean my pump is knackered.
thanks

I went to change my air con pump and noticed that it was actually kicking in and turning off after about 5 seconds. After some messing around for some reason the pump stayed on on the air con worked ok.
I thought it was probably the relay box on the fan, so changed that, no good. Swapped the air con relays in the fuse box, no difference.
Someone has told me that it could be possibly the air con switch on the heater control on the dash. Anyone heard of this.
I looked at trying to get at it, but cant figure out how to strip the dash, anyone got any pointers.
Thanks

When your van is broke and you have to go by bike.....................Couldn't resist that.

It is a pressure switch on A/C pipework and turns the compressor Clutch on and off.

Would this switch cause the air con pump to kick in for 5 seconds and then turn it off. I think I have found the switch on the pipe work behind the passenger headlamp, is that the only switch sensor on the system.
Any idea on how I test this to see if its knackered.
This problem is really doing me in now.
thanks

More likely to be pressure a bit too low, than faulty switch.

Could be coming out on the HP switch. Are you sure the electric fan(s) behind the radiator are running.

Sounds like a blockage in the evaporator. Really needs a set of gauges connected to find out what is happening.

Did ATS give any reason why the compressor was not running for longer ?

Can anyone help. I had the air con fluid drained and re filled, all pressures checked etc all ok. Air con pump clicks on for a few seconds and goes off. I have changed the relays still the same, and then I bridged out the relay which is in the fuse box in the engine bay and the air con pump stayed on.
Brand new relay fitted, still the same. Any ideas, its doing my head in now.
My thoughts are that could it be the voltage in the relay being too low??
thanks

It should only stay on for about 5 seconds and cut off, it only pumps when it needs too
