starting issues, connections ?

Hi all, a quickie and I'm sure an easy one for you lot. I turn the key in the ignition, I hear a click but no starting. Turn off, try again and it starts ?. could this just be dirty / indifferent connections somewhere ?. MK3 1988 2.5

I would suspect starter solenoid contacts on the starter motor but first make sure battery is fully charged and can deliver the cranking power needed .
Than check for corroded or lose wire connections .

Had similar. Squirted starter and earth to engine from starter with GT85. Didn't work straight away but now seems fine.
